A very Harry Potter birthday!

Some of you may know (or not) but my birthday was on the 31st of July. And since it's also the birthday of Harry Potter (and J.K. Rowling). I organized a little trip to London to visit the Warner Bros Studio Tour!

Guys, I had the best day ever!! I had the privilege to be able to open the doors of the Great Hall together with three other birthday-girls and it was the best feeling ever! I was shaking and feeling SO extremely happy! The whole studio is amazing and so much better than I expected (my expectations were extremely high). There's no way I saw every single thing because there's freaking much to see! They told us that the average time of the Tour is 3 hours... but geez, die-hard fans like me don't have enough with three hours! Me and my friend spend at 6 hours in it! Out feet hurt like hell, but you weren't able to knock of the smile off our faces. Every Harry Potter fan should definitely go there some day, because it's so worth it. I was celebrated my 21st birthday, but I was walking around and awing like a 5 year old.

Somewhere in the middle of the tour is a cafeteria. And of course, I drank butterbeer!  I think it's a combination of apple/caramel bubbly drink with on top a buttery/soft ice cream topping? Anyway, it's delicious. I bought the souvenir tank (obviously)!

Oh my god and the shop! I would have loved to buy everything! But I settled with: a Marauders Mug, a t-shirt, a Slytherin notebook, the souvenir book of the tour, postcards and a bag. You can see some items on a picture I posted on my Instagram here :)

Now, believe it or not, but during the whole tour I took 650 pictures. I'm not even kidding. And the blurry or bad ones were immediately deleted. So it's 650 pictures that were actually good! :D To share some of them with you guys I made a little collage with the best ones. I hope you enjoy them and from time to time I still post them on my IG, so make you sure you check them out too ;)

Hope you enjoyed this post! If you have already been to the tour, share me your stories!
And if you haven't, share what you want to see the most! :) xoxo

Update on The Selection series by Kiera Cass!

It's already know for a while that The Selection trilogy became an actual series.
Two more books were announced. The Heir, the fourth book, is expected on May 5th. However the publication date for the 5th book is still unannounced. But we still have some other things to look forward to in the mean time!

The novella The Selection Stories: The Queen and The Favorite has been cancelled, but for an amazing reason. I'm already excited!!
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes, your preorder has been cancelled because the e-book of The Favorite and the paperback bind up of The Queen and The Favorite are no longer happening. At least, not in March. Why? Good question. One of the great things about the world of The Selection is that the more time I spend with it, the better it gets. It was amazing (if not a little weird) to see a young Clarkson through Amberly’s eyes, and it was a special opportunity for me to show you just how hard Aspen was fighting for America in his own words. America, Marlee, Maxon, Aspen, and Amberly have all gotten to take a turn sharing their voice, but recently, I felt there was one more character I wanted to give just a tiny, itty bitty, little moment to: Celeste.

With the timing of everything, a few things had to be rethought, and my hope was that you’d be able to have all the stories, in print, in one place. So, instead of simply getting The Favorite in March, in OCTOBER you will be getting a HARDBACK bind up with the following:
  • The extended version of The Prince
  • The Guard
  • The Queen
  • The Favorite
  • Three scenes with Celeste (that I still need to name... hmm.)
  • The second epilogue to The One
  • Some other stuff
  • Oh, and did I mention that this will be illustrated?
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Isn't this GREAT??? I'm already SO excited! Especially for the scenes of Celeste and the fact that it's illustrated. October 6th can't come faster ;)

What are your thoughts on this? Please share it in the comments!!

*waves* I'm back!

Two weekend ago I was in Venice. I've been back since last Monday, but I've been so tired lately that I had absolutely no courage to start working on blogposts, that's the reason behind my lack of posts ... So sorry for that! But I'm officially back as you may have seen ;)

I had an amazing time there. It was a little city trip with my parents and brother. I had a lot of fun and the weather was beautiful. Now, some of you wanted to see some pictures from Venice, so here we go!

Me on one of the many island of Venice
Me and my brother on a gondola
The exact moment when I fell in love with quills...
And that's the one I bought!
Admiring the view...
We had so much luck with the weather!!
Love this view...
And a family pic! ;)

Traveling!

Hi guys!

This weekend - well actually in 5 hours - I'm leaving for three days. I'm doing a little citytrip to Venice! No, my bookboyfriebds weren't available, so I'm going with my parents and brother ;)

This is the reason why I won't be posting NY Friday Finds and Book Of The Week :/
I didn't have the time to prepare then sorry :( I'll try to find a way to make it up to you next week (I'm coming back on Monday night)!

Hope you are not too disappointed!!
Have a nice weekend! 💖💖

By the way, I'm taking The Darkest Minds with me (on my kindle) so I hope I'll be able to read a lot on the plane  ✈ ;)

New year = few changes!

I'm going to do some changes to my weekly posts!

This is the previous schedule:

MONDAY: Get to know the author (every two weeks)
WEDNESDAY: Weekly Recommendation based on a theme
FRIDAY: Recent release
SUNDAY: Book Of The Week

I'm going to stop with the weekly recommendations, because I feel like I always recommend the same books... I had a hard time keeping up with these posts because half the time I didn't have inspiration for themes...

But don't be sad! I'm starting a new weekly thing! Something I'll be able to keep up without problem :D
Every Friday I'll post a "Friday Finds", which consists of all the books I added to my tbr list during the week. You see why this won't be a problem for me? :D I always add tons of books on GR :D Since it's a thing that should be posted on Friday, I'll move my recent release posts on Wednesday.

So this will the new schedule, starting tomorrow (January 5th):

MONDAY: Get to know the author (every two weeks)
WEDNESDAY: Recent Release
FRIDAY: Friday Finds
SUNDAY: Book Of The Week

A lot of you are probably not interested in this post, but I just wanted to share it with you ;)

Love you! ♥
And thank you for following my blog!!

Reading goals for 2015

First day of the year is almost over and it's time to share my reading goals for this year!

1. Read 100 books

I have a full time job and not a lot of vacation days (I just started working there), so I'll probably won't have a lot of time to read, but I still want to read 100 books this year! If I could read overpass my challenge of last year, that would be even better ;)

2. Reread Harry Potter

I'm a huge Potterhead and usually I reread all the books once a year, but the last two (maybe three?) years I haven't been doing it. So this needs to change! :D
For my birthday I received the books in English so I really need to read them at least once (I've only read the books in Dutch).

3. Finish The Mortal Instrument Series

Oh man. I seriously need to read this goal! I read until City Of Lost Souls. I read the first 100-150 pages and then put it on hold, thinking I would pick it up again after reading a book or two in between. It's been on hold for a at least 7 months now... I just NEED to finish it, because I love this series and I want to know how it ends!

4. Get my 'owned books tbr' down

Right now I own 164 books and I haven't read 65 of them yet... I need to fix this!
I know I will buy a lot more, but I need to find a system to actually read them too :D Maybe every month a few of them? I don't know yet... :D

5. Buy max. 5 books each month

This brings me to my last goal! I bought so many books in 2014 and I need to save some money! Gifts don't count though! :D please buy me books because 5 is way to little haha

What about you? ;) What are your reading goals for 2015?

AWARDS: Best books of 2014!

Epic Reads did an award-thingy about the best books of 2014 and I thought: "Why not do this based on what I read in 2014?". So here it is! I used the same categories as EpicReads, but I picked two to three best books for each one. Because I just couldn't pick one :D
I read over a 100 books this year so trust me, it was very difficult to narrow it down to max 3 books for each category! Okay, here we go:

Pagemaster
Award given to my favorite author of the year.

Jennifer L. Armentrout is my favorite author of this year and probably forever. She is the Queen of New Adult! I love all her books so much. Because of her I’m so into New adult and paranormal romances. I’m glad she has so many books, because I can’t enough of the world and character she creates. Every month I managed to read a few books by her and I just love it so much. If you don't know her, go her goodreads page! You won't regret it!
PS: I'm warning you, there are a lot of books of her in this post! ;)

New kid on the shelves
Award for the best debut novel of the year.

1. Ignite by Lily Paradis
I had the amazing opportunity to read an ARC of this book and I loved it so much! Can’t wait to read more of her work in the future! Read my review here.

2. The Murder Complex by Lindsay Cummings
I helped to promote this book and I don't regret it at all. If you love fast-paced books with TONS of plot twist, then this is definitely something for you! Read my review here.

3. The Jewel by Amy Ewing
This is the first book of a new trilogy. If you loved The Selection by Kiera Cass, then this is definitely for you. Warning, it has a little darker theme. Read my review here.
Cover lust
Award for the best book design of the year.

1. Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi
This is the third book in the Shatter Me series and they are all so pretty that I could give them all an award. But the colors of this one are just gorgeous. The combination of orange/red and green is just wow.

2. A Thousand Pieces Of You by Claudia Gray
I haven't read this book yet, but I just love the cover. I own this book and let me tell you: It's even more gorgeous when you see all the little details in real life. Just beautiful!!

3. The Law Of Moses by Amy Harmon
I haven't read this book either, but I pre-ordered it when I saw the cover. SO GORGEOUS. Oh and the inside is so pretty too! Each chapter page has this art on it and it's just ... * sighs*

Silver screen award
Award for the best book adaptation.

1. The Fault In Our Stars by John Green
I mean... do I need to explain myself? The cast is perfect and I just cried like a baby...

2. If I Stay by Gayle Forman
At first I wasn't so sure about the casting, but I ended up loving it. I really hope they film Where She Went too. I loved the book, but loved the movie even more. Made me cry all over again! And the music in this movie was amazing too! If you haven't listened to the soundtrack, listen here.

3. The 100 by Morgan Kass
The CW made a tv show based on the book and I love it so much more!! Seriously, this show is amazing. It's very different from the books, but I didn't mind at all. The books (there are two: The 100 and Day 21) are good, but they are like the first episode of the show. I hope this show will be around for a long time! Read my review of The 100 and Day 21.

I ship it
Award for the best couple of the year.

1. Lies Unspoken by Lisa De Jong
This one is a recent release and I loved it. I had to chance to read an ARC and I fell in love with Blake and Lila. The chemistry between them is oh so good. There is a love triangle in this one by the way. But not the typical kind of triangle so it was very refreshing! Read my review here.

2. Crush by Lacey Weatherford
This is the first book I read by Lacey and this series is just amazing. Cami and Hunter are definitely in my top 5 of all time OTP's! Read my mini-review here.

3. Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi
Warner and Juliette are so meant to be. Ohmygoodness, whenever I think about them I'm fangirling all over again. These two together is all my heart desires. If you haven't read book 2 or 3 you probably don't understand why I'm saying that. So a little advice to you: GO READ THE NEXT BOOKS!!! (I'm not yelling, it's just very important). Read my "review" here.

All by myself
Award for the best standalone novel of the year.

1. Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma
This book just ripped me into a million pieces. A lot of people recommended this one to be, but I was never 100% convinced I would like it. Oh boy, I was so wrong. I ended up ugly crying, just saying. If you haven't read this book yet, don't read to much reviews about it. Go into it blind. You'll love it. Read my review here.

2. Volition by Lily Paradis
This book isn't released yet. But I beta-read it for Lily. And I loved it. I cannot wait to have the actual book in my hands and read it again!! Find out more about this book here.

3. Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson
I finished reading this book in one day and it was so good! It's a perfect summer read and the storyline is amazing. It's definitely not the last book I'll read by Morgan! Read my review here.

Here and now
Award for best contemporary novel of the year.

1. Trust In Me by JLA/J. Lynn
Oh man, I loved this book so much. It's the same story as Wait For You, but in Cam's POV. It made me fall in love with this book all over again. I'm a sucker for romances, but when it's in a guy's POV, I'm basically in Heaven. Combine this with JLA's writing style and I'm floating on a fluffy pink cloud. Do I need to say more? ;) Read my review here.

2. Hopeless by Colleen Hoover
I always heard Colleen was an amazing writer, but I never thought much about it because I never had the opportunity to read a book by her. But then I bought Hopeless and I devoured it completely! It is truly amazing and Colleen is indeed awesome! I just bought Maybe Someday and I cannot wait to read it! Read my review here.

3. The Real Thing by Cassie Mae
This is another ARC I had the opportunity to read. I loved it so much. I'm a sucker for romances between two best friends and this book is the perfect example. Read my review here.

A whole new world
Award for the best fantasy novel of the year.

1. Obsidian by Jennifer L. Armentrout
Daemon Black, hot alien, glows beautifully in true form, badass, funny, green eyes.... Do I need to convince you even more? Yes? Okay. BEST SERIES EVER! I think you get my point now ;) The Lux series is my fav series ever. I'm not even kidding. I like it even more than Harry Potter! Read my review here.

2. Hired Gun Serial One by AJ Bennet
I always loved books with some mythology and this one has plenty of it. It's also a bit of more mature book, so I love it! It's short though, but I read the two next ones already and I love all of them! Read my review here.

3. Half-Blood by Jennifer L. Armentrout
You're probably thinking: "ANOTHER JLA BOOK?!" Well yeah... warned you haha. I love her books! I've only read Daimon and Half-Blood (and a part of Pure) from the Covenant series, but it's amazing so far. It's a little similar to Vampire Academy (by Richelle Mead) and I'm in love with the characters. Two sexy guys in combination with a badass main character. What do you need more, right? Read my review here.

Hot under the cover
Award for the sexiest novel of the year.

1. Wait For You by JLA/J. Lynn
I fell in love with Cam in this book and I'm never ever forgetting him. He bakes cookies and has a pet turtle. I don't think there's a character I love more than him. And Cam with Avery are fireworks! One of the sexiest couples ever! Read my review here.

2. Easy by Tammara Webber
This book got me into New Adult. Since then I'm completely hooked. This book is just perfect. I loved it so much agh! Landon comes very close to Cam's perfection. Him and Jacqueline are so meant to be. Sadly, I don't have a written review of this one yet. Find out more about this book here.

3. Phoenix by Raine Anthony
One word: HOT. This book is a little similar to The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks. But way more hotter in my opinion. Find out more about this book here.

End of an era
Award for the best series that ended in 2014.

1. Smolder by Lacey Weatherford
Smolder is the last book in the Crush series (mentioned in 'I Ship It'). This book wasn't in the same POV as the other books, but in Russ' POV. He's a "side-character" in the three previous books, but I always had a little crush on him. This book made me very happy! Read my review here.

2. Isla And The Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins
My favorite contemporary read EVER. Stephanie is the Queen of Contemporary and this book made my heart do these crazy little jumps. I could read this book a million times! Josh is amazing and the way Stephanie ended this trilogy is perfect! Read my (over-excited) review here.

3. Opposition by JLA
You're probably sick of all the JLA books in this list haha, but Opposition is the last book in the LUX series. It's the perfect ending for this supernatural series. I wish there was more though, because I miss Daemon already!! Read my review here.

Teardrops on my shelf
Award for the book that made you cry the most.

1. Making Faces by Amy Harmon
I started this book blind and I ended up LOVING it. It had an unexpected ending and I cried so much. Oh man, I remember that I finished reading this book at 1AM and crying alone in the dark. When you finish this book, make sure you have plenty of tissues and someone to hug afterwards. You're going to need it. Badly. Read my review here.

2. When It Rains by Lisa De Jong
This book surprised me on so many levels. I loved it so much and it's definitely one of my all time favorites. There was an plot twist I hadn't seen coming and I ended up crying my eyes out! I recommend this book to everyone who loves a good and realistic romance! Read my review here.

3. Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
This book was recommended to me, but I never really was excited about it. And then I started reading it and fell in love with the main characters. It has a slow start but the ending makes you forget all the little negative things about this book. I cannot wait to see the movie adaptation! Read my review here.

Best Of Schelves
Award given to the overall best book of the year.

I could put all the books I mentioned above in this section, but if I had to pick only three then I pick these three:

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you read until here: thank you so much. I know this post is SO long, but I hope I convinced you to read at least one of them ;)

Do you agree with some of my choices? Or not at all?
Let me know what you think in the comments!

My book experiences in 2014

I can't believe 2014 is almost over. Time flies by so fast! I had a lot of crazy things happening to me and to be honest, I had some rough moments (school etc). So I'm glad that's behind me.

The good thing about 2014 were my reading experiences. I always loved reading, but this year I picked up my love for books on a completely new level. In the beginning of 2014, I set the challenge of reading 100 books in one year. I remember a friend saying to me I was insane for doing this. That it was impossible. And I proved her wrong, I'm super proud of myself, because I ended up reading even more! I read 119 books this year!

Plus, I've been #1 reviewer in Belgium for a while now! This is freaking unbelievable and I'm secretly very proud of myself. I didn't win anything, but just the feeling. Aaah, so good! ;) PS: If we're still not friends on GR: add me!! I'd love to see what your reading ;)

In May, I also started my book related instagram. An insane amount of people are following me on there and I'm so grateful for this. I love my bookstagram! I love the way I can share what I'm reading and interacting with other booklovers. I received so much love from these people. They helped me getting through the hard moments I had this year. This may sound a little cliché, but this bookstagram truly kept me going. It made me feel good and less 'alone' when I had a hard day.

Then, in August, I finally started another little thing I've always wanted: my book blog. I enjoy editing and writing the posts a lot. I still don't have a lot of followers and I'm sure only 3 or 4 people read my blog regularly, but I don't care. I enjoy doing it. Especially the blog tours, cover reveals and the other promotional posts. I also had the opportunity to read some amazing ARC's and communicate with super lovely authors!

So overall I had quite an amount of good things in 2014! I hope to be able to keep all those things going for a long time!

What were your good moments this year? Feel free to share anything with me!

xoxo, Melissa

Little personal note

Hi everyone!!

I just wanted to let you guys know I won't be posting a Weekly Recommendation post this week. And because of two reasons.

First: I started a new job!! Yay for me :D Monday was my first day and I'm already drowning in all the work I have. I'm working at TMF Group as the receptionist/secretary.
When I get home at 6-7PM I'm exhausted! That's why I haven't been blogging a lot these days. I have a few posts for you guys this week and probably for next week too, but I haven't had time to prepare my recommendations :(

Second, I need more inspiration for categories! I think I covered all the basic recommendations like contemporary romance, series, stand-alones ect. But I'm out of ideas :D So, please, if you have a category/theme you want suggestions from, don't hesitate to let me know in the comments!! It would be much appreciated!

Anyway, I just wanted to let you know this :)
I just need to adjust to the "lots-of-work-but-no-sleep" thing and I'll be blogging like a real fangirl again in no time! :D

I love you all and have an amazing day/night!! ♥
Melissa xoxo

Book Tag: Readers problems

A big thanks to Jumana from BooksByJ for tagging me! This is the 'Readers problems' - tag. and it's originally from some booktuber (I wouldn't know which one).

Let's start!

1. You have 20,000 books on your TBR. How in the world do you decide what to read next?

Depends on my mood actually. Or whatever everyone else is reading. I'm often motivated to read a particular book when nobody can't seem to shut up about it :D

2. You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you quit or are you committed?

If the first 100 pages don't interest me, I just stop reading it. Except if a lot of people say it will be better. Then it usually makes me curious enough to continue. But if I'm already halfway thought a book and I still don't like, then I just quit. Often I just put it on my 'on-hold-shelf' and try again later.

3. The end of the year is coming and you’re so close, but so far away on your Goodreads reading challenge. Do you try to catch up and how?

I don't really stress about it. If I don't make it... well... it sucks. But I would try to catch up by reading smaller books or hold a readathon with some other people to keep it fun.

4. The covers of a series you love do. not. match. How do you cope?

I don't. I will be forever mad and it will bother me whenever I see these books. You just don't cope with this...

5. Every one and their mother loves a book you really don’t like. Who do you bond with over shared feelings?

I usually find at least one or two people who share my opinion on Goodreads :D

6. You’re reading a book and you are about to start crying in public. How do you deal?

I immediately stop reading. I don't like to draw attention in public. But usually, when I know it's an emotional book, I don't read it in public ;)

7. A sequel of a book you loved just came out, but you’ve forgotten a lot from the prior novel. Will you re-read the book? Skip the sequel? Try to find a synopsis on Goodreads? Cry in frustration?!?!?!?

I usually forget rereading the previous book, so I try to find as many spoilery reviews on Goodreads. Or I search for a recap of the book, like Recaptains does ;)

8. You do not want anyone. ANYONE. borrowing your books. How do you politely tell people nope when they ask?

I'm the worst at this! I try to mumble a few lame excuses haha :D Or I say I want to reread it and keep it. But when I do this, I feel guilty afterwards... don't know why :D

9. Reading ADD. You’ve picked up and put down 5 books in the last month. How do you get over your reading slump?

I sulk for days haha :D A good contemporary romance usually helps me! Last time Isla and the Happily Ever After helped me a lot!

10. There are so many new books coming out that you’re dying to read! How many do you actually buy?

ALL OF THEM! I have no way to contain myself when it comes to buying books :D

11. After you’ve bought the new books you can’t wait to get to, how long do they sit on your shelf before you get to them?

Way longer than I care to admit .... :D But the ones I REALLY want to read, I usually read them fast ;)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If you read all of this: I love you :D I'm also tagging a few people, because I loved doing this!
I don't know a lot of people, so if you're reading this and you aren't tagged, feel free to do it anyway! ;)

xoxo, Melissa

Help? I'm looking for books with a male's POV!

I noticed I always read books with a female POV. And I like it, but... I want something new.

So I'm asking for your help. Can YOU recommend me some books with a male's POV?

I would love to find a New Adult Contemporary Romance, like Breakable by Tammara Webber.

I loved that book SO much. If you know a similar book, that would be awesome!

But of course, I'm also open for other genres, like a paranormal romance, dystopia or a mystery novel. I prefer New Adult books, but I don't mind reading YA novels ;)

Can you help me? Comment below with some books, please!!
